"Education is not an affair of 'telling' and being told, but an active and constructive process." John Dewey
Nothing is more rewarding for me as an educator than hearing students report how their views have been respectfully challenged by my class. Experience and pedagogical reflection leads me to believe that students are most receptive to such challenges in a safe and inclusive environment that actively engages each student in reflection, dialogue, and debate. Below are some of the courses I have taught. During my time at the University of California, I acquired a passion for professional development and pedagogical training. As a former Pedagogical Fellow and Instructional Development Associate for the Center for Engaged Instruction, I enjoy participating in workshops and programs for teachers aimed at promoting effective and inclusive teaching methods.
